Private Home
This project started with a heartfelt request from my client, who was downsizing from a spacious family home into a charming but dated smaller home that hadn't been updated since the early 1970s. Amid a major furniture purge, she asked if I could reimagine her cherished large four-poster bed—the very one in which she had given birth to both of her children—to fit seamlessly into her new, more compact space.
I began by visiting the home she was selling to carefully measure and assess the bed, then headed to her new property to evaluate the layout. It quickly became clear that space would be extremely tight. What started as a focused bed redesign soon evolved into a full home renovation, beginning with the primary bedroom and adjacent sitting room, followed by the kitchen, and eventually encompassing the rest of the house.
Throughout the process, it was important to preserving the home's original 1970s character. We committed to working strictly within the existing footprint, making no structural changes to retain its authentic charm.
As the general contractor, we oversaw all aspects of the project, including design coordination and management of local trades to ensure seamless completion. For the primary construction elements, we partnered with Deltar Construction—a team we have collaborated with on several previous projects and whose dedication to quality and excellence we fully trust.
