Private Home
Built from a old growth Elm log, this 14’ dining table, became the centerpiece for large family gatherings in this newly built contemporary home.
There is a special story behind the log which I built this table from. I purchased the full log in 2017, after viewing it a a local mill even though I had no immediate projects for it… it was just to beautiful and rare to walk away from.
In 1946 the first official case of Dutch elm disease was confirmed in Ontario, by the 1980’ s peak devastation occurred, wiping out the vast majority of mature old growth, large canopy elms, so finding this log in impeccable shape was truly a rare gift.
I made this table and the Tofino Surf table from this special log
The Chairs are vintage mid-century tubular Chrome, powder coated flat black, refinished with a grey leather (called elephant skin) it had the worn in look and feel to create a comfortable chair which can be sat in for hours.
